This gym means the world to me—it’s truly irreplaceable in my life. Why? Because it’s the gym that produced the fighter I respect the most: Badr Hari. As a young man from Japan whose hobby is kickboxing, I visited this gym for a training camp in 2015, and again for single-day training in 2018 and 2019. During the camp, I became close with the staff and fighters. By chance, they told me that Badr Hari would be visiting and even arranged things so I could meet him. I’m deeply grateful for that. They also lent me a bicycle and a house, and I’ve remained friends with Massaro ever since. Thanks to that connection, I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting Joerie Mes and Jordann Pikeur—I feel truly lucky. When I traveled to the Netherlands for BADR vs RICO at Gelredome, Joerie drove me all the way to Arnhem. Shaggy never forgets to wish me a happy birthday every year, and that always makes me so happy. I was super nervous when I took a class with Mike, but now I see it as a great memory and learning experience. Next time, I’d love to try sparring—carefully, without getting injured! I sincerely wish this gym continued success and prosperity forever.
